Announcing Energy Storage Summit 2017

Britain continues to be confronted with an “energy trilemma” – the need to ensure security of supply, keeping costs low for consumers and to decarbonise. Intelligently used, energy storage could be one of the very few technologies to meet all three aims. It could act as a cost-avoiding measure for the network and contribute to decarbonisation in a multitude of ways, including helping to balance the grid and enable more renewables to be deployed.

With a lot of “me too” storage events taking place in 2017, it can be difficult to choose the right one. However, there’s only one Energy Storage Summit. Over 300 people attended our inaugural Summit held in early 2016 and 95% said they would attend again.

Energy Storage Summit returns to London in February, and with interest building around the potential of the UK storage sector, the event expands across two days in 2017 to reflect the upward trajectory of this exciting market.

This year the content will focus on:
  • Policy and regulations: future of network charging and embedded benefits, length of contracts and alignment of tender process
  • System operator: what are the system operator’s needs and strategies; and what impact they will have on the revenue stream for storage?
  • Strategy: how are companies across the value chain approaching the market?
  • PPAs: who is providing them, at what price and how do they make your project more bankable?
  • Finance: debt, equity, asset finance and corporate capital: who are the players and what are they willing to lend/invest against?
  • Case Studies: hear from the most successful commercial projects, both in the UK and Europe
  • Revenue Streams: future of revenue streams, volume, application processes and synergies
  • Technology, innovation and integrated systems: pros and cons for different technologies; the link between EVs, charging infrastructure and energy storage
By participating in the Summit, attendees will meet the entire energy storage value chain:
  • DNO, Regulators, National Grid
  • PPA Providers: Utilities, ESCOS, Traders, aggregators
  • Finance community: Banks, boutique mezzanine providers, renewable asset owners, private equity
  • End users: Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Installers, Large energy users
  • Developers from all backgrounds entering the market and targeting a wide range of segments
  • Energy storage companies and their supply chain

2017 Advisory Board

What are attendees saying?

“It’s really good to meet people involved in these projects - and hear them speak - behind all the news and reports on energy storage and clean energy. It’s insightful, and heartening to know, that there is some enlightened and clever thinking going into progressing the UK (and global) energy system towards a non-polluting energy independence. The information presented and sense created from the Energy Storage Summit should help define and affirm market signals. This in turn helps the investor community make decisions which should develop the energy storage market."

Tom Darwen, Director, Haven Power

“This was a wonderful event, mainly because of the quality of speakers and participants. The information was really relevant and covered the full range of the storage market - from finance to projects to technology to customer and Utilities needs and experiences.”

Louis Shaffer, Distributed Energy Management Segment Manager EMEA, Eaton

"This was the first truly all-encompassing, detailed, energy storage event in the UK and evidenced by the interest we had at BELECTRIC for our grid scale energy storage systems from both investors, developers and commercial and industrial clients alike. Well done Corinna and team at Solar Media - we look forward to the next event!”

Paul Camp, Business Development and Finance, BELECTRIC

“Energy storage and demand side management is a key emerging market that will shape how we use energy as consumers and how we manage energy as suppliers. The Energy Storage Summit is THE event to hear from, and meet, the key stakeholders from the supply chain, generators and Government representatives.”

Simon Baker, Chief Business Development Officer, Fichtner Consulting Engineers

SolarEdge

SolarEdge

SolarEdge invented an intelligent inverter solution that changed the way power is harvested and managed in a PV system. The SolarEdge DC optimized inverter system maximizes power generation at the individual module-level while lowering the cost of energy produced by the solar system. Addressing a broad range of solar market segments, from residential solar installations to commercial and small utility-scale solar installations, the SolarEdge system consists of power optimizerssolar PV inverters, and a cloud-based monitoring platform. The SolarEdge system enables superior power harvesting and module management by connecting power optimizers to each PV module. System costs remain competitive by keeping the DC to AC inversion and grid interaction centralized at a simplified PV inverter. Module manufacturers, installers, and system owners enjoy strategic benefits of SolarEdge technology - maximum power production through module-level MPPT, optimal roof utilization through constraint-free design, and enhanced maintenance and accurate troubleshooting through module-level monitoring. Another benefit is the guaranteed automatic DC shutdown, for installer, maintenance personnel, and firefighter safety, through the SafeDC™ mechanism. Supporting increased site self-consumption, SolarEdge’s Smart Energy Management portfolio includes consumption monitoring, an export limitation option that dynamically adjusts PV power production, a storage solution, and home load control. These products allow system owners to use more energy for self-consumption to reduce the price of electricity. Since beginning commercial shipments in 2010, SolarEdge has shipped more than 3.8 Gigawatt (‘‘GW’’) of its DC optimized inverter systems and its products have been installed in solar PV systems in more than 90 countries SolarEdge’s mission is to become the leading provider of inverter solutions across all PV market segments and broaden the availability of clean, renewable solar energy.
